Our story

Richmond Tours is a family-owned student travel company founded in 1980 by Frank Petruzzi, whose love of travel began while working as a tour escort in college. Although he earned a degree in accounting, Frank chose to follow his passion for travel and built a company centered around helping students experience new places, cultures, and opportunities beyond the classroom.

Today, Richmond Tours plans trips for thousands of students each year with a team of travel specialists who bring more than 60 years of combined experience. Frank's oldest son, Anthony Petruzzi, has since taken over leadership of the company, bringing a modern perspective while continuing the traditions and personal service Richmond Tours was built on.

In 2025, Frank's youngest son, Michael, joined Anthony in carrying that vision forward, helping expand Richmond Tours' destination offerings, strengthen relationships with schools throughout the East Coast, and introduce more educators and students to the opportunities that come through travel.

At Richmond Tours, we believe travel and transportation should be accessible to everyone. Every student, regardless of their school, background, or previous travel experience, should have the opportunity to explore somewhere new. Our goal is to make student travel easier for schools, expand access to meaningful experiences, and encourage more students to discover the world beyond their own communities.
